| “Mood Indigo” is the first recording produced by Boston-based vocal trio The Sisters of Swing. These 14 swing standards are freshly arranged by Roberta Radley and Gaye Tolan Hatfield, with one stock tip-of-the-hat million-selling chart by the Andrew Sisters. The overall style is contemporary close voicings in an acoustic setting featuring pianist Brad Hatfield and bassist Marty Ballou. Guitarist Bill Brinkley is featured on 3 cuts with Ballou, then joins in with Hatfield on Gaye's new arrangement of Brooks Bowman's 1932 jazz standard “East of the Sun.” Other composers include Ellington, Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, and Gus Kahn. Ruthie, Roberta and Gaye all take turns singing lead, or support harmony. You'll be tapping your toes and singing along in no time at all. |
